Full job description

We are Columbus top driveway and parking lot repair and replacement specialists. Join a fast-moving paving crew as an Asphalt Team Member. You’ll be a hands-on luter, shoveler, and tamper who shapes, evens, and compacts hot-mix asphalt using lutes, rakes, and hand tools. Key responsibilities
Use a lute, rake, and shovels to spread, feather, and smooth hot-mix asphalt at edges, transitions, and shoulders.
Fine-grade areas that the screed cannot reach; establish correct elevations and slopes per crew instructions.
Assist with hand-compact edges using plate compactor or hand tamper.
Follow crew leader/foreman directions to match the flow and pace of the paving train.
Perform daily tool and equipment checks, keep tools staged and clean, and report defects.
Maintain site housekeeping: remove trip hazards, dispose of trash, and secure materials.
Follow all jobsite safety procedures, wear required PPE, and participate in toolbox talks.
Occasionally perform other general labor tasks (traffic control assistance, material handling, staging yard maintenance).
Required qualifications
2+ year experience on asphalt paving crews preferred; hands-on lute/rake experience strongly required.
Able to work in hot conditions and lift 50+ lbs repeatedly.
Reliable transportation, punctual, and able to start early (typically 6:00 AM).
Willingness to submit to background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Responsive communication and ability to follow directions from the foreman.
Preferred qualifications
Experience with plate compactor, hand tampers, and basic asphalt terminology (crown, grade, compaction).
OSHA 10 or equivalent safety training.
Previous experience on paving projects.
Pay & schedule
$18–$26 / hour DOE + overtime in season.
Full-time, seasonal peak (spring–fall). Early starts; potential weekend OT.
