The job
A huge commercial parking lot near Columbus airport was cracked, worn and hard on vehicles. Bruck and its partners and subcontractors rebuilt it in two phases.
We milled off 1.5 inches of the old surface, some of it at night so the lot could keep working. Then we cleaned up and graded the base, cut and sealed about 1,800 linear feet of cracks along the edges, and pulled out old wood posts.
Next came the paving: 2 inches of fresh asphalt over about 19,600 square yards (roughly 176,000 square feet), more than 2,000 tons of asphalt in all. We removed 79 old plastic speed bumps, installed 44 new concrete parking blocks with reinforcing pins and replaced 35 more.
Last, the striping crew laid out a new stall layout: about 7,000 linear feet of yellow lines, numbered stalls, and white stop bars and STOP legends. The result is a smooth, black, well-marked lot ready for heavy daily traffic.
Marc Davis was the estimator and project manager on this job.
