Signs you need it

  • Rutting, shoving or depressions in wheel paths
  • Longitudinal and alligator cracking
  • Potholes along edges and at drains
  • Water standing on the road after rain
  • Crumbling shoulders and edges
  • A new or extended road that needs paving

Our process

  1. We walk the road and review the plans, specification and traffic.
  2. You get a written quote with the scope, section and phasing.
  3. We prep the subgrade, build the aggregate base and set grades.
  4. We place and roll binder and surface courses, with traffic control.
  5. We shape shoulders, stripe if required and clean up.

Options and materials

Mill and overlay vs full-depth

If the base is sound, milling and overlaying restores the road at lower cost. If the base has failed, full-depth reconstruction is the lasting fix.

Aggregate base

Base depth is set by soil and traffic. Soft subgrade may need stabilization.

Binder and surface course

A larger-stone binder carries the load, and a finer surface course finishes the road.

Thickness

Residential streets and truck routes call for different sections. We follow the plan or recommend one.

Drainage and shoulders

Water kills roads. Ditches, culverts and shoulders are part of the scope.

Traffic control

We phase work and keep access open for residents where possible.

Bike trails and paths

Bruck Construction paves bike trails and multi-use paths in Columbus and central Ohio for parks, townships, developers and private owners. We shape the grade, build the base and place smooth hot-mix asphalt. You get a fast written quote, and the work is guaranteed for one year.

What moves the price

Every job is priced after we see it. These are the factors that change the number:

  • Length and width of the road
  • Mill and overlay or full reconstruction
  • Subgrade and base conditions
  • Pavement section and thickness
  • Drainage, curbs and shoulders
  • Traffic control and phasing
  • Specifications and inspection requirements

We measure, then put the scope, materials and price in a written estimate. Estimates are free.

Frequently asked questions

Do you pave private roads and HOA streets?

Yes. We pave private roads, subdivisions, drives and developments.

Can you work to a plan or specification?

Yes. Send us the plans and specs and we will quote to them.

How long does a road take to pave?

It depends on length and phasing. We give a schedule on the quote.

What causes road rutting?

Heavy traffic on a section that is too thin, or a soft base. A new section fixes it.

Can residents still use the road during work?

We phase the work and keep access open when possible. Some closures are needed.

Do you handle drainage?

Yes. Culverts, ditches and catch basins are part of the scope when needed.

How wide should a bike trail be?

Shared-use paths are commonly eight to twelve feet. The plan or owner sets it.

Can you pave over an existing gravel trail?

Sometimes, if the base is firm and drains. We check first.
