A small lot is a hard job to shut down. A gas station can't close its pumps. A strip mall has five tenants and five sets of customers. A church or small office still needs its spaces on Sunday morning or Monday at 8.

Bruck Construction paves and repairs these lots, and we specialize in two things: catch basin repair and replacement, and after-hours installations. We have served central Ohio since 1984. We plan the work around your business, not the other way around.

Catch basin repair and replacement in Columbus, Ohio

Catch basins are where small lots fail first. Water runs to them, so they take the most abuse.

Here is what goes wrong:

  • The frame and grate settle below the pavement.
  • The concrete collar around the basin cracks.
  • The apron around it sinks.
  • Water ponds near the drain instead of going in.

Once that starts, water gets under the asphalt. In Ohio it freezes, expands and breaks the surface apart. The patch around the basin keeps failing.

Here is how we fix it. We cut out the failed area. We reset the frame and grate, or replace them if they are broken. If the structure itself is bad, we install a new one. Then we compact the base, tie in asphalt or concrete around it, and regrade so water runs to the drain. Catch basin repair costs less than most people expect when you catch it early. We tell you if a repair is enough or if the basin needs to be replaced.

After-hours paving in Columbus, Ohio

Our other specialty is after-hours installations. We work nights and off-hours so your business stays open during the day.

How it works: we plan crew scheduling around your slow hours, set up lighting for night work, and break the lot into phased lanes or sections. One part is worked while the rest stays usable. The goal is simple: the lot is open for your customers when you open.

Tell us when you can't have crews on site, and we build the schedule around that.

Gas station parking lot paving in Columbus, Ohio

Gas stations can't close the pumps. Cars come and go all day, and tankers need access. After-hours work and phasing are how we keep you open.

One more thing. Asphalt can be softened by fuel spills, so concrete is the better choice at pumps. Concrete also holds up better at dumpster areas, where trucks turn and drip. We pour concrete aprons, pads and curbs, so you get both surfaces from one crew.

Strip mall parking lot paving

Strip centers are about people. Tenants, owners, delivery drivers and customers all use one lot.

We talk with the property manager first, then plan around the tenants. Restaurants and busy shops get the most careful scheduling, often after hours. We mark off sections, keep a path to every entrance, and tell tenants what is coming and when. Fewer surprises means fewer calls to you.

Repair or replace?

We would rather save you money than sell you a new lot.

  • **Under:** Surface mostly solid, with cracks and a few bad spots? Repair is usually the better buy.
  • **Over:** Cracks like alligator skin, pavement that flexes, or the same spots failing again? The base is the problem. Mill and overlay or replacement is the better spend.
  • **In between:** Replace the failed areas, including bad catch basins, and seal the rest.

We tell you which one we see.

What moves the price

Every job is priced after we see it. These are the factors that change the number:

  • Square footage and shape of the lot
  • Surface condition: cracks, potholes, alligator areas
  • Catch basins and drainage
  • Stalls, ADA stalls, curbs, aprons and striping
  • When crews cannot be on site: open hours, tenant needs, night or weekend work

We measure, then put the scope, materials and price in a written estimate. Estimates are free.

Frequently asked questions

Do you repair and replace catch basins?

Yes, it is one of our specialties. We cut out the failed area, reset or replace the frame and grate, install a new structure when needed, compact the base, tie in the pavement and regrade so water drains.

How do I know my catch basin needs work?

Look for a frame or grate sitting below the pavement, a cracked collar, a sunken apron, or water ponding near the drain.

Can you pave at night so my gas station or store stays open?

Yes, after-hours installations are a specialty. We schedule crews around your slow hours, light the work area and phase the lanes so the lot is open when you open.

Why use concrete at the pumps?

Asphalt can be softened by fuel spills, so concrete is the better choice at pumps. We can pour concrete pads at pumps and dumpster areas and pave the rest.

Do you do striping and ADA stalls?

Yes. We stripe stalls, arrows, stop bars and fire lanes, lay out ADA stalls, and set wheel stops.
